I was very excited, but am very disappointed - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Reviews
I am a fan of Pirates. I loved the first one, the second one took a second time around to love but now I do. Maybe I just have to see it again for it to all make sense.
There were too many story lines throughout the entire movie. My 17 year old sister turned to me at the end and said "I couldn't follow that at all." There was too much Elizabeth for me. There wasn't enough Will. The character of Elizabeth is not even recognizable to the original character. I sat through the first half hour with my arms crossed very bored. I wasn't a fan of the part in Singapore and how it really didn't connect with the rest of the movie.
Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp were amazing. Rush plays the perfect pirate as Barbosa. Jack is mostly his usual self, not as drunk as usual, like he said at one point "and that was all without one drop of rum." You can't really complain about any of the acting actually. There was just too much for the characters to take on which somewhat took a toll on the actors.
There were many humerous parts. The movie had me laughing but it wasn't enough to bring me out of my disappointment and confusion of all of the stories. The action was great. It was good as usual.
I am simply bothered by the ending. I can't get over it, it just bothers me. And not only how it is left open to a possible 4th installment. I hope there isn't. I don't want to have to sit through another 3 hour movie like this to be disappointed again, and I know I'd go again simply because I love the first two.
